Thursday Bass from Lynn's Lake

Antwan's new neighborhood has a pond, so we decided to check it out yesterday (after a full day of hard work). He got one on a plastic worm, and I got one on a spinner. Our loving wives made us a little shrimp and grits for dinner and we called it a day. Mm good.

April Showers Bring May Potatoes

In South Mississippi the tater planting season is under way, and our multi-talented member C. Lott agreed to help me publish this handy tutorial.

First you want to till up a good spot. Chris tells me that the ideal size is "about as big as a car and a half". Throw in some composted manure, maybe a little fertilizer and till it up good and deep. Then hip it up into rows.

Buy some seed taters at your local farm supply store and cut them into pieces so that each piece has 3 or 4 eyes. Grocery store potatoes would work but the genuine seed taters have some good old fashioned chemicals to keep off bugs etc. After you cut them up let them sit in the sun 12 to 24 hours to dry out.

Forced labor makes the next step go much easier. Dig holes into the hipped up rows and stick in the potato cuts with the skin side up. Cover up and pat with a loving touch. The top of the potato is probably 2 inches underground and the holes are about a foot apart.

Now just sit back and relax. C. Lott says 5 lbs of seed taters makes 50-60 lbs of eating taters. An old man told me that the thing with taters is the more you water them the more you've got to water them. Since it's wet all spring anyway watering shouldn't be a problem, and this particular patch art to be ready mid-May. Then you plant your peppers, etc. By the way, I planted my taters the next day and we will keep you posted on the progress. Any other gardening pictures / advice is sure welcome.

In celebration of the Bass Masters Classic, Scott and I took an adventure to my honey hole in the big city of Purvis, MS. We were only able to fish for about 2 hrs. before the rain, but we wore'em out. When we got back to the house Eazy-E (Ethan) was pissed cause he did not get out of bed to go.

Man Awakes With Crochet Needle Stuck Into Urethra

I really hate to bring down the Gulf Coast sprit--especially at this festive time--but, even in the midst of Carnival cheer,  we must remain mindful of our urethras.

This just in from Tywappity's Limestone County Chapter:

A Limestone County Sheriff’s deputy was called late Wednesday night to Huntsville Hospital to take an unusual report from a man who told officers he’d awakened with a crochet needle stuck into his urethra.

The man, who is not being named pending investigation, said he went to sleep with an ex-girlfriend and when he awakened, the needle was completely embedded, said Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely.

“He stated to our officer he didn’t know how it got there,” the sheriff said.  “He and the girlfriend had been drinking and it was there when he woke up. It was inserted all the way in.  ”Doctors at the hospital X-rayed the man and then removed the object, Blakely said.

The call came in at about 11 p.m.  Wednesday night.  Investigators are looking into the incident.

Carnival Time in Mississippi

This motivated young man scored big time at the Mardi Gras parade in Waveland, MS on Sunday. If he can just get a ride to New Orleans next Tuesday to cash them in with the local ladies he'll be in business.

Pensacola White Trout

Went out Saturday with Jeep on Pensacola Bay and managed to pick up about 30 white trout. Some were kind of small but we caught all we wanted.

Tried to find some big Redfish but had no luck so went and sat on the beach and had a few.

While we were out messing around with the trout the kids snagged this marlin from the beach. Caught it on a Snoopy rod with three pound line, baited up with sweet potatoes and carrots.

A little River Golf Expedition

River Golf is like tournament golf in so many respects. We have only found two differences; the water hazard is bigger and no carts can be utilized (although there is always next time)

Winter Storm 2009

Now that we finally have power, cable, internet, etc. here are a few pictures from the Missouri Ice Storm. Hope the intensity is evident - according to the town elders, this is the worst storm they have ever seen!
